A Brief History of the Chopper motorcycle
Motorcycles military history dates from 1913. In fact, General John J. Pershing used a Harley Davidson to pursue the famous Mexican bandit, Pancho Villa in 1916. In 1917 approximately two thirds of the production of Harley Davidson went to the military. World War saw an approximately 20 000 Harley pressed into military service with the growing number of 90,000 in World War 2. These motorcycles played many parts in time of war, everything is used to communications, transport and limited combat tactical assault missions in World War 2. This, together with the motor pool of regular war-time produced thousands of men trained as mechanics.
At the end of World War 2 a large number of these returning soldiers went into business using their newly acquired mechanical skills. Most entered the auto repair business, however, a large group focused on the motorcycle side business. Many of these returning soldiers turned to the hot rods and motorcycles who seek the thrill he had experienced in times of war. The huge surplus military motorcycles always easily accessible, and cheap, the market for these emotions applicants. From the beginning, these new engine was modified in the big bike, military-oriented heavy, utility and style, the removal of parts and accessories is not absolutely necessary for starting, riding, and stop the motorcycle.
